EXIF information retriever with support for JPEG, PSD and RAW images, IPTC data, a built-in picture viewer, auto rotate, and filtering unknown tags #EXIF reader #EXIF extractor #Extract EXIF #EXIF #Reader #Read
EXIF Browser extracts EXIF information from JPEG, PSD and RAW images. This is a simple-to-use software application that reveals file properties and general EXIF details. It comes in handy for gathering image attributes necessary for putting together various collections.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that EXIF Browser hasn't been updated for a very long time and it doesn't run on newer Windows editions. It worked smoothly on Windows XP during our tests, though.
As long as you have .NET Framework installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can drop EXIF Browser's program files in any part of the HDD and just click the executable to launch the tool. It shouldn't modify Windows registry settings.
It's packed in a user-friendly interface with a built-in file explorer that you can use to locate JPEG images and preview their thumbnails.
Displayed file information includes the file size, image resolution and format, file name, date taken, and number of containing images. A photo can be opened in an EXIF Browser integrated image viewer that lets you zoom in and out, play a slideshow with all containing pictures, and extract pics to any location on the disk.
As far as general EXIF information is concerned, you can find out the camera make and model, shutter and ISO speed, F-number, exposure compensation, focal length, and maximum lens aperture. More details can be obtained for the file's technical value, index, ID, type and length.
When it comes to program settings, it's possible to show unknown tags in the list, auto rotate thumbnails, treat CR2 and JPG with the same name as one file, auto copy EXIF info, create web images, set up an external image editor, as well as browse for the web image directory and CanonRAW embedded JPEG folder.
The tool popped up an error in our tests whenever we attempted to view technical file properties. It had minimal impact on computer performance, though. Overall, EXIF Browser features handy options for retrieving EXIF information from digital camera images. Too bad that it hasn't been updated for a such a long time that it doesn't work on newer Windows.
