When a picture is taken with a dedicated camera, related details like capture date, settings used, camera type, and more are written in the file’s code. The main window can feel a little overwhelming at first, but if you take it easy with each section, you realize it’s actually intuitive, with no confusing option, or function which can seem out of place. All detected files are shown in a list by name, with the possibility to view all files inside that folder, or just JPG target files. There’s no way to make a second selection based on the list, so it’s best to make sure the folder contains only those images you want to process.

The name clearly lets you know renaming is done according to EXIF data, but what it doesn’t say is that only time values are taken into account. Even so, there’s a decent set of features behind the entire operation, so this doesn’t become an issue.

For instance, the time doesn’t necessarily have to be grabbed from EXIF, with an option to apply the file creation time. This allows you to rename a greater variety of pictures, even though EXIF data isn’t written in the file code.

You can add custom words both at the beginning, and the end of the name. You’re free to choose what time details to include, such as year, month, day, hour, minute, and seconds, as well as to include separators. The original file name can also be kept besides the new style.

All things considered, we can safely state that Mihov EXIF Renamer might feel a little rough around the edges, as far as the visual design is concerned, but the overall set of features is sure not to disappoint. Even though only time options are grabbed from EXIF details, there are more options to help you identify new files easier through custom input of values.
