ReducePhotoSize

ReducePhotoSize is a small-sized and portable application that lets you change the dimensions of JPEG images as well as to adjust their quality. It doesn't include complicated options or configuration settings, making it suitable for all types of users, even the ones inexperienced with such software.

At startup, you are prompted by a file browser to locate and open the JPG photo. In the following steps, you can opt between full, half and quarter size, as well as set the output JPEG quality while keeping an eye on the original and output file size.

Once the actions are confirmed, the program creates a new file and saves it in the same location as the original image. This means that the source files remain untouched, so there's no need to perform backups prior to using this tool. There are no settings implemented for processing multiple photographs at the same time, though.

There is no setup pack involved, so you can save the downloaded files to a custom directory on the disk or copy them to a removable storage unit to directly launch ReducePhotoSize on any computer with minimum effort and no previous setup, by just double-clicking its executable. It doesn't make any modifications to the system registry.

It remained stable throughout its evaluation, without triggering the OS to hang, crash or indicate errors. It used a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance.

On the other hand, ReducePhotoSize doesn't come packed with a particularly rich set of features for resizing JPEG images. For instance, it doesn't give you the possibility to set a custom width and height. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself, since it's free for non-commercial use.
