ShiftN

ShiftN is a small graphic editor whose purpose is to help you get rid of the effect of converging lines from your images using automatic corrections.

You are welcomed by a clean feature lineup where you can drag and drop photos directly in the main window or use the browse button. You can make the utility show or hide a grid in the layout.

A preview panel is integrated in the GUI for helping you check out the original and processed images.

You can view details about each photo added in the working environment, such as camera model, date, time, resolution, focal length, exposure time, aperture, ISO, exposure bias, and metering mode.

You can also check out a help manual in case you want to find out more about the program’s capabilities.

ShiftN works with the following file formats: JPG, TIF or BMP. All corrections are applied automatically by analyzing the vertical edges without any user interaction.

There’s also support for a batch mode that can be used for processing multiple photos at the same time. You only need to select the images and pick the saving directory.

The automatic correction mode can be tweaked. You are allowed to adjust the shift and rotation parameters. Plus, you may alter the distortion and horizontal shortening values.

There are several advanced settings that you can alter, such as minimum line length, minimum line contrast, amount of correction, radial distortion, and resolution parameter.

When it comes to output parameters, you can save the image to JPEG, BMP or TIFF file format, trim pictures automatically, adjust the JPEG quality, use EXIF date/time, sharpen pictures, and add a suffix to the filename.

Although ShiftN looks deceivingly simplistic at a first glance and its GUI is a bit outdated, the powerful algorithm that is hidden under the hood allows the correction of converging lines and poor camera angles.
