Photocopier

Working with digital photos means having to regularly copy files from SD or microSD cards and USB or other devices to the computer. To simplify your task, you can turn to Photocopier, an easy-to-use tool that has practical features for immediately photo copy.

It gives you the possibility to define rules in order to automatize the entire file transfer, like renaming files by EXIF data, copying only new items, or converting RAWs to DNG and starting Lightroom right afterward.

You can double-click the downloaded .exe to reach the main app window right away. All removable devices currently attached to the computer unit are autodetected by the tool, so you can select one to view the thumbnails of all containing pictures. If you frequently handle multiple cameras simultaneously, you can assign short names to identify them easier in future sessions, thanks to the fact that Photocopier remembers settings.

In manual mode, you can select the images you're interested in copying to the PC, and pick the target directory. The photos are grouped together but you can split and join them with ease.

In automatic mode, you can set up file handling rules, such as dividing image groups into subfolders by year-month, camera\year-month-day, or custom. Photocopier can also be instructed to rename files (e.g. long data, image number; minimal data, camera, image number), copy only new files, convert RAWs to DNG (optionally embed the RAWs in DNG).

Once the files are copied, the program can start Lightweoom immediately or eject the card and quit to the desktop. Camera information may be displayed in the main window, next to the image thumbnails and dates.
