Screen Capture

It’s a well-known fact that every keyboard is fitted with a button that captures the entire screen activity and sends the picture to the clipboard for you to use where needed. On the bright side of things, there are some third-party applications which help enhance this function and provide more options, which is the case with Screen Capture.

On the one hand, the application doesn’t take you through a setup process, allowing you to see what it’s all about from the moment download is done. Needless to say that this also allows you to have it stored on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on other computers, without affecting stability because registry entries remain intact.

When launched, a barely-noticeable window shows up, with a single button to be used. Pressing it inevitably captures the entire screen activity. Unfortunately, the application window always appears in the captured image, so you need to use extra tool in order to remove it, which is a major disappointment.

Once you trigger the screenshot, a new window shows up on the desktop with the preview. You can either discard the image, capture a new one, or decide to save it. Sadly, the only format you’re only able to save to is BMP.

Saving the image closes the application, and you need to run it again for a second screenshot. There is, however, a way to bypass this by assigning a hotkey command to the application’s shortcut, but it doesn’t solve the issue of the window to appear in all of your screenshots.

All things considered, we can state that Screen Capture is pretty far from delivering the expected set of features. Unlike the default screenshot capturing tool, it is able to also save an image file, but repeatedly taking screenshots becomes time-consuming, and with need of post processing.
