Before you upload a picture on your favorite social network profile page, you probably spend some time to adjust a few things, and chop off parts you consider don’t belong there. There are various tools you can use in this regard, but if it’s simplicity you’re looking for, Image Tools might just be the one you need.
The application gets installed in the blink of an eye, giving you a chance to get familiar with its features shortly after. However, before you hurry to download it, make sure Java Runtime Environment is among the utilities deployed on your computer, because it’s one of the application’s main requirements.
When launched, the main window shows up, with most of the space being the canvas on which you get to place various elements. Supported formats are rather poor, with the possibility to only load JPG and JPEG files, and this needs to be done with the built-in browse dialog, because drag and drop is not supported.
On the other hand, you can take a screenshot using built-in hotkeys, but the option only works if you trigger it before loading any other image. One of the biggest disadvantages is that there are no zoom options, and if the original size of the image is greater than your screen resolution, you’re in for a difficult time.
What’s more, the amount of editing tools you get to work with leaves a lot more to be desired. In other words, these are limited to drawing straight lines, rectangles, and adding text. More limitations are encountered in terms of customization, with only two color options, and fonts, and not even a thickness adjuster for lines. Output format is the same as that used to load pictures.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Image Tools leaves a lot more to be desired, and it’s sad to say that Windows default tools can prove more useful than what this application lets you accomplish. File support is poor, while customization options only serve for basic emphasis of certain areas.
