Capture activity on the entire screen, or a custom desktop region, and quickly bring up Paint to process and save the new picture #Screen Capture #Desktop capture #Desktop screenshot #Screenshot #Snapshot #Capture
Input peripherals along with different Windows features make it easy to perform different activities on your computer. For instance, a keyboard button is specially dedicated to screen captures, while Paint is the default tools to save the image. For more options, there are a lot of other alternatives like ScreenCapture.
The application comes in an incredibly lightweight package that doesn’t take you through the hustle of pressing a few Next buttons to make it work. As such, you can take screenshots on other computer by simply running the program from a USB flash drive. Moreover, system registries aren’t tampered with, thus not affecting the functionality of the target PC.
A pretty compact main window shows up on launch, with a dedicated field and several buttons to trigger main functions. Two methods are at your disposal to provide a bit more variety than default screen capture ways. You’re able to select a particular region of the screen, or grab the entire desktop.
When captured, the picture is automatically saved to clipboard, and there’s even the possibility to have the Paint utility brought up at the press of a button to save the recent capture. However, this means that you mostly get to process one picture at a time, because there’s no option to have them automatically saved.
What’s more, the application proves to be nothing more than somewhat of an interface for the keyboard print screen function. The area method is a little rough around the edges, covering your screen with a bright tint, but not taking it away upon selection, and even includes it in the final picture.
All things considered, we can say that ScreenCapture leaves more to be desired, only serving as a simple extension to default methods of taking screenshots. The region method feels rough, while the lack of an option to automatically save pictures has a negative impact on overall practicality.
