AS-Picture Joiner

AS-Picture Joiner is a lightweight and simple piece of software that allows you to blend two images in a horizontal or vertical pattern.

Following a quick setup, you come face to face with a barebones interface that displays the available features, namely loading the pictures you want to merge and then save them to the desired location on your local drives.

The application is as simple as it gets and does not perform any other function than joining two images.  It would have been helpful if you could merge more than two images, as this way you could create a collage or photo book. Then again, the program can come in handy for creating games such as finding the differences in the pictures, for example.

It is necessary to mention that the utility solely works with JPG images, so if you are trying to combine pictures that you took with a modern digital camera, then you might need to use a converter first. It would have been nice if the app worked with other image file formats and especially those that are compatible with smartphones.

Moreover, the program could use some settings that allowed you to make some minor modifications to the images before merging. It would have been useful if the tool enabled you to crop images, alter the contrast, brightness, hue or get a negative of the image. The latter option would come in handy for the times when you are trying to identify movement or differences between two similar images.
