If you want to give an artistic twist to your image, you can apply one or multiple filters from the included ones, while keeping in mind that you cannot preview them in real-time - in other words, you need to open the Filters window, choose the one you like, customize its settings, and only after you apply it, you can view how it looks on your picture. It goes without saying that you can revert to the previous state without any hassle.
