Background Remover

Background Remover is a lightweight Windows application designed with a single goal in mind: to help users crop the background color of their photos.

Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you to need to remove the background color from your photos on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

Background Remover is a Java-based utility, so make sure you have previously installed the working environment on the computer, otherwise you cannot run the application.

It sports a clean and simplistic layout that allows users to perform most operations with just a few clicks.

The application gives you the possibility to upload images into the working environment using the built-in browse function, so you cannot rely on the “drag and drop” support.

What’s more, you are allowed to specify the saving directory, and configure several dedicated parameters related to the background removal process (e.g. size, color). Plus, you can replace the background color with a new one.

Unfortunately, the configuration settings section is not very intuitive, so it proves to pretty difficult to understand the function of each built-in parameter. A help manual is not available, so you need to set up the entire process several times until you manage to crop the desired area.

Other important options worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to adjust the levels for hue and saturation, change the image transparency, as well as alter the RGB value.

Background Remover comes packed with a handy set of tools but it still needs some improvements in the GUI area to make entire process more intuitive.
