When it comes to image editors and viewers, the digital world has numerous resources and you certainly can find a software utility that meets your needs. While professional editors have no trouble handling large images, smaller applications might not perform as you expect. To that extent, LIFE Pro is a user-friendly viewer and editor specifically designed to process large image files at a satisfactory speed. In fact, its name is an acronym for Large Image Fast Engine Processor.

The application is rather user-friendly and displays the three more recent images within its main window for fast access. On the downside, having the editor open in another window than the main GUI is uncalled for and, frankly, quite annoying. When an image is open, you can see it in the “Image” tab as well. Otherwise, that tab is empty, which has no logic.

Overcoming these small inconvenients, let’s talk a bit about the application’s functionality.

In LIFE Pro, you can open existing images in various formats, including but not limited to TIFF, large PSB files, and so on. On the other hand, note that the application also comes with options to create an image from scratch. GrayW, RGB, CMY and CMYX are the supported formats and the dimensions and resolution of the resulting image can be customized. Barcode images, profile and patch charts can also be generated, with options to customize their dimensions and parameters.

The application also bundles a screenshot capture tool, allowing you to save a screenshot of the entire desktop and edit it afterwards.

As for the editor, it comprises various image viewing and processing tools, including a metadata editor, zoom in and out options, a histogram generator, and more. You can use LIFE Pro to convert between color spaces and manipulate channels, resize image or change their frame size, perform measurements, and so on.

There are a few enhancement tools that you can use to adjust the contrast and the brightness, manage hues and saturation or fine tune the color temperature and balance. The color can be easily inverted and the integrated equalizer helps you get enhanced photos.

LIFE Pro is far from being a professional editor, but it comes with a series of tools and options that allow you to enhance your images. It can handle large images and can convert large PSB files and can easily switch between RGB, CMYK and Multichannel color spaces.
