Reduce the size of one or more picture files to a new value, and specify quality options with this practical, portable application #Image compression #Resize image #Compress image #Compression #Compress #Resize
Depending on the source and resolution, a simple picture can take quite the amount of disk space. This might represent an issue when trying to use it with specific tools or services. In this regard, One Simple Image Compressor helps you process multiple pictures at a time in order to adjust quality, and size to meet any demands.
One advantage in particular is represented by portability, because it skips you the effort otherwise needed to go through a setup process. What’s more, registry entries are not modified in the process, so you can use it on other computers without any risk of affecting its stability.
The main window offers quick access to all functions you get to work with under the form of buttons, drop-down menus, and value fields. Sadly, loading pictures can’t be done by dropping them over the main window, but using the browse dialog is not that much of a hassle. Supported formats include, but are not limited to BMP, JPEG, GIF, ICO, PNG, WMF, and EMF.
To avoid overwriting original files it’s best to change the destination directory. Additional parameters also need to be specified such as resolution. However, this one is not mandatory, but you can resize to specific height and width values in pixels, inches, or millimeters. Sadly, there’s no option to keep aspect ratio intact.
On the other hand file quality is mandatory, which means the only exported format is JPG. A drop-down menu helps you pick the percentage value of the new quality option. Processing takes only a little while, regardless of the number of pictures you add. It would have been useful for the destination directory to automatically show up when done.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that One Simple Image Compressor manages to live up to expectations, at least judging by the name. It helps meet specific requirements when you only have large pictures. Although it can’t automatically maintain aspect ratio, or let you choose a different export format, it’s sure to come in handy.
