Pixelator uses a series of smart filters and a good pixilation engine in order to provide you with instant and accurate pixel art results. One of the best parts of this application is the fact that it allows you to customize these filters, and even turn them on or off, so that you achieve the exact desired results.

Working with the app is extremely easy, as it’s designed to be as user-accessible as possible. The installation is straightforward, and the interface, while not stylish or particularly modern, does a good job of allowing even the most novice of users to find their way with ease.

The main window is dominated by the Source Image and Preview panels on the right side (which takes up almost 80% of the space), and a useful tool panel on the left. This panel allows you to load images into the app, to set the pixilation factor, to change the color palette (Adaptive, Web, Mixed, Dither, From File, or From File With Dither),the saturation levels, as well as the smoothing factor and smoothing iterations.

This is not all, as you are also provided with the option of choosing the background color and opacity threshold, as well as the outline type, the outline color, and the outline opacity levels. Last but not least, it’s worth noting that the app boasts a couple of preview options as well.
