If you're looking for a simple software solution to help you put together thumbnails or contact sheets out of multiple image files, look no further than Cas. It's an easy-to-use Windows tool that offers support for BMP, GIF and JPG graphical files.

Installing the utility isn't necessary. Thanks to the fact that it's wrapped in a no-install package, you can keep it stored in your collection of portable software and fire it up whenever you have to quickly build thumbnail files.

To get started, you have to specify the folder whose containing image files you want to take into account for the thumbnail building operation. Keep in mind that only BMP, GIF and JPG items will be included by the app in the task, as everything else will be excluded automatically.

It's not possible to exclude files once the whole folder is selected, so you have to make sure that the exact photos you want to turn into a thumbnail picture exist in the specified directory.

Once you reach the options panel, you can establish the new size of the total output image (width and height, in pixels), customize colors for the background and text, as well as set the JPG quality and text size. You can also control the name and location of the new file. The name of each file appears below the corresponding photo thumbnail.

The downloaded archive of Cas also includes two .reg files for integrating the program into the Windows Explorer context menu for quickly creating thumbnails out of all images of a selected folder, as well as for disabling this setting. Unfortunately, the software project is old and no longer in development. Nevertheless, you can still download the last released version from Softpedia and use it on newer Windows versions.
