Color Picker 2 is an evolution of the application with the same name, but no number attached. As far as this evolution is concerned, opinions might be divergent, meaning some might feel it went a step forward, some might think the opposite.

This app has lost any sort of menu or window and is now a simple widget-like icon, tied to the side of the desktop screen. It's not at all bothersome, and the system upon which it relies seems viable.

The mechanics behind it are pretty simple. The program needs to be installed and launched. After you've managed the logistic side of things, you'll be presented with a small icon to the right of your screen. It looks like a label, as far as it is concerned. Now, clicking on the icon activates the main feature, the color picker.

Move your mouse all over the screen to identify the color. The background of the icon will change its color as you move the cursor. You can hide the icon, if it becomes annoying, by clicking the three dots next to it. It does not bother one in any way, and the positioning of the icon is indeed great.

The application is definitely not going to use any of your resources. It is light and accessible. One can also click a certain part on the screen to instantly register a certain color within the program. This works especially for individuals attempting to identify a very specific color on the screen. The lack of a menu could be challenging for some. Still, lighter sometimes also means better.

Color Picker 2 is a redefined application that holds the same basic principles as its predecessor, bringing a new approach to a rather old arrangement. In the end, you either like and use it, or don't and avoid it. It is all up to you.
