Free Picture Resizer

Free Picture Resizer is a lightweight and portable piece of software that enables you to change the resolution of your images, in order to decrease their size. It offers support for GIF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, ICO, EMF and WMF file types.

It's wrapped in a single executable file that can be saved in any part of the disk and double-clicked to launch the application. Another possibility is to keep it stored on a USB flash drive, in order to directly run the app on any computer with minimum effort and no previous setup. It doesn't make any changes to the Windows registry.

When it comes to the interface, the utility adopts a large window with a neatly organized structure. It doesn't put emphasis on the graphical elements, yet it's easy to navigate. You can start by opening a file to preview the image in the main window.

It's possible to zoom in and out by moving a slider, set a new width and height, preserve or disregard the aspect ratio, rotate the pic to any angle, as well as save the modified photo to a new file with the JPG, GIF, PNG or BMP extension. This means that Free Picture Resizer also acts like an image converter, since it lets you save files with a format different than the original.

Unfortunately, it doesn't support batch processing, so it's not possible to rotate, resize and convert multiple graphic files at the same time. We haven't experienced any issues in our tests, though, as the app didn't hang, crash or show errors. CPU and RAM usage was minimal, so it didn't hamper the system's performance.

Although Free Picture Resizer doesn't contain rich options and configuration settings, it supplies you with a fast and effective solution for resizing, rotating and converting images.
