Photography enthusiasts and those who are involved in timelapse editing are well aware of the annoying effect that flickering has on the final videos. Of course, this artifact can be removed into dedicated graphics suites, but in order to help users avoid such sophisticated software, GBDeflicker is here to provide a more accessible approach. It will allow them to analyze the preferred images for flicker, perform the required adjustments and save them directly to a video output for previewing the results.

The application presents users with a clean interface that allows them to locate the folder where the timelapse images are and import them for analysis. Unfortunately, drag-and-dropping is not supported and this might annoy users right from the start.

Once the preferred images have been loaded, people can initiate the analysis process and the utility will list the identified luminance and the necessary values and corresponding spread. However, images cannot be previewed as a listing and users might find themselves scrolling through the image sequence for viewing the different parameters.

Users will be able to perform the preferred adjustments, choose a correction type (linear, shift or gamma) and a corresponding clipping threshold. They will then be able to preview the resulting images individually or quickly generate a movie that will display all the corrected image sequence.

Nevertheless, no options are provided for the video playback speed of frame rate and for some, the resulting videos could be too quick to view the applied changes in detail. GBDeflicker allows users to work with RAW format images and generate adjacent settings the loaded images, in XMP format.

This application addresses those who need a quick and efficient way of eliminating flicker from their timelapse sequence images. It will offer them an accessible approach that can save them from resorting to complex graphics suites. They will be able to load the preferred images, analyze them based on their luminance values, apply the recommended settings and preview the results either as individual images or entire videos.
