JMicroVision

JmicroVision is an advanced tool that packs powerful tools to help you describe, measure and analyze very large, complex and varied images. Even though the program was initially designed for the analysis of high definition images of rock section, it goes without saying that it can be used in other fields as well.

The application packs an old-school interface, but that is quite intuitive; as soon as you upload an image, you should be able to view all the available features and options. You should not be deceived by the looks, as the application packs several powerful features for processing images.

For starters, you have numerous image processing options that entail filtering, segmentation, binary and morphology operations. You can make adjustments or geometric corrections by control points as well as profile for the objects you are analyzing.

If you are unable to measure well due to various reasons, then you can consider using the spacial calibration feature. The idea behind this option is to automatically convert the pixel values of any unit of measurement via a process that entails multiplying the measure values and conversion factors. Once you define it, you should be able to view all the positions and measurements displayed to the conversion factor.

As a side note, when you do not use calibration, then the app considers the pixel as the main unit of measurement. Access the Output unit in the dedicated combo box to define the units you want.
