Some default groups need to be created first. There are two types of directories you work with, such as regular folders, and picture groups, which are the only directories which hold images. Dropping them over the main window is not possible, but using the browse dialog isn’t difficult, with supported formats like JPG, and BMP.

Each picture can be fitted with comments and keywords. These last attributes help identify pictures in the blink of an eye through the search function, which is also equipped with a wizard configurator to help out narrow down results and increase chances to retrieve pictures you’re looking for.

Apart from these simple details, you can also create lists of photographers and cameras. These take little time to fill in, since only a couple of fields need to be filled in for each category type. You can attach these details to pictures to include all info of interest.

There’s the possibility to have your own edit programs configured for quick fixes, which comes in handy because the application doesn’t come with any enhancements of its own. You can start a slideshow with a configurable timer for slide intervals.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that MyPixelVault is a little underprepared for the depth of editing it wants to provide. File support leaves more to be desired, and you might have a little trouble at first figuring out how and what types of folders can hold picture items.
