QGMView is a relatively easy to use application designed to allow users to download and cache maps from Google Maps and browse them offline, saving your traffic.
basically you can use this application to download or browse any other set of image that can be represented as a set of layers, where each layer consists of 256x256 images and is four times larger than previous layer.
