ResCalc

ResCalc is a resolution calculator for digital images. Its purpose is to allow the user to calculate the best size-quality ratio before sending the digital images to the printer. It does not interfere with any image property in the process, it's meant to calculate only.

The interface is compact and easy to comprehend. You can start by inputting the size of the image you want to verify. The values for width and height must be filled in first, followed by the resolution/DPI numbers.

Use the middle section slider to reduce the size of the image by whatever percent you want. The reduction in size is done without negatively impacting the quality, that why the reduction in size values will drop after any adjustment and the RES/DPI goes up.

As for the Printed size numbers, those are there to give you the cropping dimensions. However, when it comes to printing, the developer advises conducting several cropping tests before working on the final image, as the program does not deliver 100% accurate results, but brings one close to what the final image should look like.

The program comes in a portable package, and that makes accessing and using it much easier. At the same time, you can move the app to a removable drive, ensuring you have it at hand each time you plan to print out whatever the camera has captured.

Rescalc is a simple calculator that helps print digital images with reduced size and unaltered quality. An image editor must be paired with ResCalc however, as the app does not have the capacity to modify files by itself. Also, make sure you run multiple practical tests before decisive cropping an image
