Similar Image Finder

Similar Image Finder is an approachable and intuitive software application that's capable of automatically finding similar images within a given directory, thus giving you the possibility to examine them side by side and figure out which duplicates you want to remove.

The installation procedure is a fast and simple job that doesn't need special attention. As far as the interface is concerned, Similar Image Finder opts for a clean window with a clear-cut structure, where you can get started by including as many directories as you want in the scan scope, even if they originate from different drives. Any one of them can be later excluded.

By proceeding with the default settings, you can initialize the scanner with one click and patiently wait for the results. These include the name of the original and duplicate file, along with the level of similarity.

Plus, you can select an entry from the list to preview the original and duplicate photo in the main app window, in order to decide whether or not you want to delete it.

As far as configuration options are concerned, the tool lets you modify the minimum level of similarity to take into account, include or exclude subfolders, find original images by file size, creation date or pixel size, favor accuracy or speed, as well as narrow down search results by applying file type filters.

The supported extensions are JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, ICO, TIF and TIFF. Lastly, you can select another skin and language for the interface.

Similar Image Finder carried out file scan jobs in record time while remaining light on system resources consumption. It managed to find a wide range of duplicate photos in our evaluation.

However, it prompted an error dialog in several cases, preventing us from running the scanner. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't been updated for a long time. Nevertheless, you can test Similar Image Finder for yourself, especially since it's free.
