Free File Opener

As the name implies, Free File Opener is an application that supports a wide range of file types, such as images (e.g. BMP, PSD, JPG), documents (e.g. Microsoft Office), PDFs, videos, and others.

This universal file viewer installs quickly on the computer, and includes a clean and intuitive layout. The drag-and-drop function is not supported, so you have to use the file browser to import items.

For each file type Free File Opener comprises a set of configurable options. For example, when it comes to images, you can change the angle, apply a grayscale, sepia or negative effect, as well as switch to fullscreen mode or convert the format into something else (e.g. BMP, JPEG, TGA, TIFF).

When it comes to multimedia options, you can customize the background, label and error label colors, disable the automatic playback of media items, as well as save the search history and recent files list, among others.

The application requires a pretty high quantity of CPU and RAM to work properly. It has a good response time and works well. When it doesn't recognize a particular format, it offers to display its native code. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. Unfortunately, Free File Opener has not been updated for a while.
