Image viewers these days come in all shapes and sizes, and regardless of the latest advancements and enhancements in terms of media software capabilities, the need for a dedicated image visualizer still remains ever-present. ImageViewer aims at offering users something from the simpler end of the spectrum, which will ensure that they will be able to preview both image and video formats, as well as perform several other useful tasks, such as screen capture.

Right from the start, the application’s design doesn’t impress, as its minimalism is quite strong, and we feel that this aspect isn’t detrimental to its actual functionality, but those who might be more demanding in terms of design, might not appreciate it.

One aspect that we found to be both interesting and helpful at the same time, was the way in which the app deals with ongoing tasks. For instance, if one is to preview images, a corresponding tab will be added in the header. When opening videos, another tab will be added, and so on.

As stated above, the viewer also supports video files, and this adds a layer of flexibility and versatility for the end-user, as the file spectrum is increased. Indeed, the included playback controls are minimalist at best, but still provide the essential functionality required.

Last but not least, the image difference module will allow users to preview the difference between images with the same resolution quite easily.

ImageViewer addresses those who need a basic tool for previewing both image and video files, and who aren’t too keen on elaborate designs or ample functionality.
