PhotoGrok

PhotoGrok is a rather crude name for a sharp-looking application that helps with organizing and displaying photos based on their metadata. A handy tool for situations where one needs to sort out images from a mixed-content directory, or when a simple checkup routine is at hand.

PhotoGrok includes in its structure the perks of a CMD-based program called ExifTool. However, there won't be any need to touch the command line console when using PhotoGrok, as all metadata management operations are handled through a clean, nifty interface.

Getting your images displayed is not complicated in nature, but some specific steps need to be followed. First, you must access the Folder Manager from inside the Tools combo menu or from the toolbar. Add the folder you wish to organize, decide if the subfolders should be searched, and click OK. Now look for the Build Tree options and click it.

The left sidebar gets populated with all the formats detected in the source directory. Each format is a category where every corresponding image is placed in. Select a category to have its contents displayed as thumbnails in the large preview area, or click the + symbol to expand the tree and display a single image all across the preview pane.

Clicking an image, no matter the view mode offers you full information about its metadata, and the right sidebar is the canvas. Information like filename, modify/access/created date, file permissions, format, ID3 size, audio codecs, title, artist, album, and more, are swiftly provided. Filters and tags can be deployed to control the input waves, cutting out unnecessary items.
