Choosing the right photo viewer may seem like a pretty standard affair to most users. After all, it's simply a tool used to enable you to view and navigate through your photos, and most users are already fine with the default Photos app that came with their Windows machine.

Still, if you are looking for an alternative, it's only natural to expect a little more functionality out of it. µPhotos is a photo viewer with a clear focus on immersion: the thumbnail view draws attention to your pictures, and nothing else. The tool is also quick to respond to commands, and can also allow you to sort through your photos with minimal effort.

The software takes a decidedly modern approach to photo viewing, which is evidenced by the modern, non-intrusive interface, where all eyes are on your photos. It helps to have such minimal interface design, and owing to the scope of the program to maximize immersion, it can be claimed that it does a pretty good job at that.

You'll first have to select the folders where you store your images. After that, you'll be able to sort and filter them based on your needs, so that you can more easily get to them. You can sort by date and file name, and it's also possible to filter by year and camera, which should make it more convenient to get to a particular image.

Besides being easy to maneuver, the program is also quick to respond to commands. Cycling through our photos very quickly did not incur any delays.  The program also offers a way to view your photos directly on your Android phone via the Network Server option. You connect your Android phone via a QR code, and you should be able to sync some of your photos to your mobile device.

A drawback that has to be noted relates to the lack of supported file formats. Currently, only .JPEG, .GIF, and .WebP are supported, so you won't be able to view RAW or HEIC files with this one. Support for more formats is planned in the future, however, so the problem should be rectified with time.

µPhotos should work well for a casual user. It's easy to use, and is quite lightweight too. Those who are looking for a more versatile solution ought to look elsewhere, however.
