Free Image Converter

Free Image Converter is an easy-to-use program designed for converting images between various file types in bulk. It supports JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF and PNG for the input, along with JPEG, PNG, BMP and GIF for the output.

The tool includes a few advanced settings that even less experienced users can quickly figure out.

The installation procedure is a speedy task that shouldn't impose any difficulties. Free Image Converter is wrapped in a user-friendly interface, made from a large window with a plain and intuitive structure, where photos can be added from files or entire directories.

As previously mentioned, batch processing is supported. After reviewing the name, containing folder, full path, and date of creation for each file, you can select the output format, quality and preset resolution (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x800). The pics can be previewed in a small built-in viewer.

It can be asked to leave the file names unchanged or to swap them for numerical incrementation (in the 00, 01.. format). By default, the app adds a suffix to the file names with the company's website, but this option can be disabled.

Several options are preserved for advanced users too. For instance, you can customize the output resolution, opt for an exact size or best fit, define file naming rules by setting any prefix and suffix you want, as well as modify the default destination folder.

As we expected, the tool had minimal impact on computer performance in our tests, running on low CPU and RAM. However, it prompted an error dialog in several cases, which prevented Free Image Converter from carrying out the conversion procedure. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't been updated for a long time, and it likely has compatibility issues with later Windows editions.
