HEIC files are becoming increasingly popular, and with the philosophy behind them, they will only get more and more prevalent. Essentially, the file format is very efficient at compressing images without losing fine details, which is a feature sorely needed in these times, when people have libraries comprising thousands of photos.

One of the problems with the format is that it's not widely supported: if you want to upload a HEIC file to a site, it's likely that it won't accept it. Even on Windows, opening such an image is not possible without a third party tool. HEIC Converter Wizard can turn your HEIC files into a more compatible format, allowing you to share them easier.

The app is pretty forthright with what it does, and that's revealed through its interface: converting your HEIC files to a more compatible format is done easily, with just a few inputs required from you.

First, you'll have to input the files or the folder where the images are housed in. The program will recognize them, and you'll be asked about the desired output format. The usual JPG and PNG extensions are there, but the program additionally supports exporting in GIF, BMP, TIFF, PDF, and even HTML formats — this is possible due to the versatility of HEIC.

Upon choosing our extension of choice, the software successfully managed to convert the photos. We were able to open them in Windows, and uploading them to popular image-sharing websites was also possible.

One of the things that may miff users is the watermark on output of the Free tier: essentially, exported images will have a noticeable watermark applied to them. We found this to drastically hamper the images: what's the use of converting when the exported shots have a huge text near the middle?

HEIC Converter Wizard does what it does satisfactorily, but the caveat to its Free tier might be off-putting to some.
