Regardless of the purpose, chances are these need to meet some size specifications, and if you want to reduce the size for more at once, specialized applications like PhotoShrink are sure to get the job done.

You may notice that there’s no installer to take you through a series of steps once the download is finished, and this is only because the application doesn’t need to be installed to run. As such, you can also use it from a USB flash drive on other computers as well, keeping the target PC’s health status intact, because registries are not a dependency.

A simple window shows up on launch, with several sets of controls in order to load the pictures you want to process, and choose how these are modified. Although there’s no help manual to get you out of sticky situations, the overall design is pretty intuitive, and most options are self explanatory.

As the name might suggest, PhotoShrink aims to reduce the size of pictures you load. This is done to a whole bunch of pictures at once, especially since the load option is only dedicated to folders. You can pick output format from a list, and supported formats for import are the same. As such, you work with files like BMP, EMF, GIF, EXIF, ICO, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and WMF.

There aren’t any quality options except for a slider. However, it too is related to somethings else, although it’s tagged as quality of output. In fact, the slider is used to determine the percentage by which to reduce the file size, and sadly, there’s no options to set fixed values, and you don’t always know the outcome.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that PhotoShrink comes in handy when you need to quickly reduce the size of a set of pictures. The process runs smooth, with the set of options letting you use the application as a simple converter. Unfortunately, it lost a lot of practicality because of the possibility to specify a fixed size, or even to work with several preset values.
