Image compression is perhaps the bane of many people's picture-sharing endeavors. You have a nice photo to upload, and there's surely nothing and no one to stop you from sharing it...unless there's a size limit in place. Complying with that should be simple enough: find a way to reduce your photo's size, and you're set.

Reducing the size of an image is likely to have an impact on picture clarity, which is very much not ideal. By leveraging pngquant, TinyDoge is a nifty utility that can compress PNG files to more...compliant sizes, so that you can upload them wherever you wish.

The program's main goal is to provide an environment where users can quickly compress any number of image files that bear the .PNG extension. It is simple enough to utilize, as all you have to do is either drop the photos onto the interface, or locate them through the software.

It shouldn't take long for the tool to get to work and compress everything you've selected: the process was completed within seconds for us, and the size savings were quite significant. For example, a 2MB file was reduced to just shy of 600KB, which is about 70% of a reduction in size.

You're bound to make a few compromises when you reduce the size of a photo by 70%. An image sharpness decrease was noticed, but it's not as serious as you would expect. If you're to make a one-on-one comparison, you'll discern the compressed from the original, but you'll have to do some pixel-peeping for that.

A way to modify the strength of the compression algorithm would be much appreciated, and there's also no way to set a target size or anything of the sort, which makes the tool really quite simplistic overall.

Despite lacking any configuration options, TinyDoge is still a handy utility that can help you compress those big .PNG files, so that you can share them more easily on the internet.
