1st Video Converter

1st Video Converter is an application which allows you to encode AVIs, MPEGs and pictures to the VCD, SVCD, DVD, AVI, MPEG, SWF or image format (e.g. JPG, BMP, PNG).

The user interface is intuitive. First you have to select the conversion method (e.g. AVI to MPEG, PICS to SWF).

When you add a video file to the queue, you can configure various settings - enable auto play, add movie control buttons, set the size, select resize method and output destination, and others.

In the case of image conversions, you can set the time interval between pictures, add video effects (effect mode, direction, speed), as well as select audio and video codecs, size, frame rate, color depth and dither.

If you add several videos to the queue in the same profile format, they will be merged, and the software supports batch conversions of different profiles. Plus, you can burn data to disc thanks to a built-in feature of 1st Video Converter.

However, there is no help file available and the "Preview" function actually allows you to preview only the thumbnail of a video (also, it temporarily freezes before displaying the picture).

Tasks are completed in a reasonable amount of time and 1st Video Converter manages to keep a good image and sound quality while using a high amount of system resources. All in all, 1st Video Converter is a pretty good application for encoding video files and we recommend it to all users.
