AVC Professional

AVC Professional is a multimedia converter that sports support for various audio and video format and is able to process multiple files at a time.

AVC Professional joins the software market dedicated to video converters with a straightforward approach, targeting both beginners and professionals. However, despite its simplicity and ease of use, AVC Professional needs further improvements in a lot of aspects, having yet to meet the level of its competitors.

We say this in all objectivity, without being mean about it. From our experience, we can safely state that we’ve seen a lot better and for a smaller price, too (we were, indeed, shocked about the price).

Starting with the application’s interface (not an essential parameter, but important nonetheless), its menus and poor array of controls and ending with the support for media formats, everything seems to require improvements.

AVC Professional is able to process both audio and video files, but support for input formats is not clearly stated anywhere; the ‘Open File’ dialog of most applications usually specify the types of file that are accepted, but AVC Professional doesn’t, so you’ll have to just guess.

At least the support for output formats is clearer – you can check it out using a dropdown menu inside the application’s GUI. Formats such as AVI, 3GP, FLV, MPG, MOV, WMV, MP3, WAV, WMA, GIF, JPG and SWF make a very short list that cannot compete with the media support provided by other converters.

Other options include the possibility to add a watermark on top of the videos (only in PNG format and without an option to select the position of the stamp), as well as to restrict the duration of the converted videos to a user-defined value and to flip or rotate the clips.

All of these lead to one conclusion: there are just too many minuses and a lot of work to be done in order to bring this application to live up to the ‘professional’ attribute so clearly stated in its name.
