Convert Genius

Convert Genius is a simple-to-use software application developed to turn multiple files of various formats into others, such as MP4, MPEG, AVI and WMV.

It is also capable of preparing video clips for iPhone, iPod, PSP, Zune, BlackBerry, Pocket PC, Mobile 3GP and YouTube.

The installation procedure takes little time and minimal effort. As far as the interface is concerned, the main app window is fairly intuitive, enabling users to add multimedia items to the list using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support.

Batch processing is possible, meaning that you can convert multiple items at once to reduce overall task time. Shown information includes the name, full path and status for each file.

By applying default settings, it is suffice to point out the output profile and destination, in order to proceed with the encoding job.

Otherwise, audio and video parameters are customizable in terms of codec, size, frame rate, bit rate, channel mode, and sample rate. You can remove an item from the list or clear the entire queue.

The app does not put a strain on PC performance, as it runs on low CPU and RAM. However, it crashed several times during our evaluation, right after initializing conversion for multiple files. It seems that Convert Genius has some stability issues with later operating systems. We must also take into account that it has not been updated for a long time.
