If you want to up your video content game, then a high quality camera is not enough. In fact, a quick look over the content creators on YouTube and similar services reveal that they are typically using encoders to visibly improve their content.

Hana Media Encoder is an open source tool that packs advanced encoding along with other features that may come in handy when working with video content.

Before you can get started, make sure that you have FFMPEG on your system, as the tool requires you to link it. To put it simply, you need to decompress the FFMPEG archive in the same folder you installed the app.

Once you load a video, you can immediately check out various details about the source info, such as the aspect ratio, B-frames, pixel format, resolution, bits per sample and channels, just to name a few. As you probably hinted, all these features can be altered by browsing through the tabs. For instance, for improving the audio, you can access the tab with the same name and edit Bit depth, rate control, channels, compression levels and frequency.

It is worth mentioning that the program comes with features that support online streaming or muxing/demuxing. It includes a trimming feature where you can easily cut the video content to highlight a message or remove non-relevant parts.

As you would expect, the tool supports the latest video codec that are commonly used with video content online, including, but not limited to H264 and H265 along with their variations, HEVC, MP3, WAV  and FLAC.
