Video Downloader and Converter is an intuitive software tool designed to help you get videos from various online sources, save them to the hard drive and change their format, as well as to convert local files into other types.

As far as the output profiles are concerned, Video Downloader and Converter is capable of turning the clips into .avi (XVid MPEG-4), .wmv, h.263 .3gp or .mp4 for mobile phones, MPEG-4 .mp4 for PSP, along with h.264 .mp4 for iPhone 4 or iPad.

Alternatively, it can skip the video conversion and just save the file on the disk with the original format, or extract the audio stream and save it as MP3. If there are multiple streams available online, then you can select the preferred level of quality while keeping in mind that this has an impact on downloading speed and file size.

It's possible to modify the default saving directory and open this location in Windows Explorer without leaving Video Downloader and Converter's interface, as well as to check the file for any errors before proceeding with the download and conversion procedure. There are no other notable options provided by this app.

Unfortunately, Video Downloader and Converter failed in its attempt to download YouTube videos in our tests, and popped up some errors when we tried to convert local video files. We must also take into account that the app hasn't been updated for a long time and it likely has compatibility issues on later Windows editions.
