PhysMo

The Internet is filled with various applications that you could use to perform all sort of analysis on your computer. One of such software solutions is PhysMo.

It's a free and nifty video motion analysis instrument that lets you process videos and get important information. It comes with plenty of tools at hand and it's packed with many options but it doesn't always launch.

The application shouldn't be difficult to install, you simply need to extract all files from the archive and save them in a separate folder, before running the executable file.

It doesn't come with a complicated setup that you would need to complete before you can actually use all of its features. PhysMo sports a really intuitive graphical interface with plenty of tools at hand and some instructions that you can check out.

The first thing that you need to do after launching the application is to browse your computer and load video files. You can pick whichever videos you like, as the application supports a large variety of formats.

It automatically saves frames in a separate section, allowing you to perform frame-by-frame motion analysis of video. PhysMo is easily calibrated to real-world distances, enabling object displacement against time  (m/sec) to be exported into Microsoft Excel.

Notations can be made in the analysis and exported back to a video format of your choice or still-frames which can be included in assignments. You can analyze frames and add comments to them.

There are many analysis modes to choose from, including calibration, angle, plot and origin. You can also adjust magnification and set the current trace. Timebase can also be set on videos.

It's a great tool for students learning to analyze a wide variety of videos taken with phone cameras or high-tech equipment.
