To reach a larger portion of the public, shows, and movies are displayed with subtitles, either in other languages, or the default in case of audio interference. However, subtitles are simple text files you can create yourself. Although not dedicated to editing directly, Subtitle Synchronization makes it possible to synchronize existing files.
Before you can enjoy all the application has to offer, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer. Subtitle Synchronization, on the other hand, skips you the effort of going through a setup process, meaning you can carry it just about anywhere on a thumb drive. Registry entries are not modified in the process either.
Emphasis is not places on aesthetics, so the application sports a clean look, but manages to keep accommodation a simple process, with functions easy to identify. A preview area shows content of subtitle files, with line counting to enhance workflow. Unfortunately, you can’t edit any of the text, and since the corresponding video is not required, preview needs to be done with other programs to get timing right.
Loading files needs to be done through the browse dialog, because drag and drop is not supported. Needless to say that you can only process one file at a time. Content preview is instantly generated, while the log window displays everything that’s going on technically.
An important option is to backup the original, but this is already enabled by default, for safety reasons. Pay attention to the synchronization value, because it’s read in seconds, which can cause major sync problems if not properly handled. You can choose to process only a range of lines, specifying start, and end lines.
In conclusion, Subtitle Synchronization comes as a straightforward approach on subtitle sync options. Unfortunately, editing is not possible to fix any mistakes, while the lack of a video preview area can feel a little underwhelming. Some degree of attention needs to be invested when managing time values to get the expected result.
