Analyze the visual structure, color distribution, and overall brightness in clips with real-time updating color bars, which can be saved to file #Video analyzer #Movie analyzer #Clip analysis #Movie #Clip #Analyzer
Color management is one of the most important aspects in video editing, because you don’t want output to bee too bright, or dark. For close inspection, Video Analysis loads your videos, reads them, and displays color settings in real time, as the video is playing.
One big advantage is that the application doesn’t require an installation in order to function, which means you can use it on other computers as well, directly from a flash drive. Another consequence of portability is that registries are not a dependency, and thus not modified on the computer you use it on.
As the name suggests, the application is dedicated to working with video files. In order to load one, you need to rely on the built-in browse dialog, since drag and drop is not supported. What’s more, there’s no indication of what you’re able to work with, so you need to try your luck with the file format you have. On the other hand, it can also be used with pictures.
As soon as the video loads, playback is initiated, and so is analysis. File different sliders fill in as the movie plays. They give you the possibility to analyze average color for the entire image, for quartertiles, brightness, difference between every 2 frames, as well as the moodbar, or imageheight, mapped to RGB.
In case you’re not interested in the entire movie, there’s an option to specify the number of frames to skip. Unfortunately, using this option might jump exactly over the part of interest, and this is mostly because there’s no progress indicator, not even in the form of a timer. What you can do is have color bars saved as BMP pictures alongside the video file.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Video Analysis helps with determining the predominant color, and overall brightness of clips, to help you adjust color options to get image quality just right. The overall process is smooth, and easy to use by anyone, but the lack of a progress slider, or at least indicator has a significant impact on overall practicality.
