When it comes to managing multimedia files, the Internet is a never ending resource of programs and applications that you could use. One of them is Kakola.

It's a nice software solution that allows you to convert media files and even rip videos from DVDs straight to your computer. It's missing some features that other applications have, but it definitely worth a try.

Although it doesn't boast with complex features, the application still manages to sports a really clean and fluent graphical interface. The toolbar gives you access to various sections that you can check out and it allows you to manage files and rip DVDs in an efficient way.

It doesn't come with any customization options but the application is available in two languages, English or French.

It comes with an extensive settings menu which allows you to adjust all sort of options and make the application meet your preferences. You can adjust the number of CPU cores the program uses, overwrite existing files automatically, pick a default destination directory, adjust Ffmpeg or mencoder options and pick from multiple default profiles.

You simply need to load the DVD into your computer in order to rip videos from it. The application displays all available videos, but it doesn't come with the option to preview them before conversion.

You can drag and drop files inside the application or load entire folders with media files. It comes with some preset audio profiles that you could use and it allows you to create new ones, but the process is a bit complicated. You can view video file information and it saves a log with all actions taken inside the application.

Kakola is a useful software solution for ripping DVDs and converting media files, but it definitely needs some more features.
