Video Edit Magic Express

Video Edit Magic Express is a software application which comprises several power tools for editing video in a user-friendly environment. It supports a few media formats, including ASF, AVI, MPEG, DIVX, VOB, WAV, MP3, BMP and GIF.

Upon deployment you can use the quick start guide to edit video, audio and image files, or to capture footage from a USB flash disk or DV camera.

The GUI's primary window does not strive in the visual department, but we must keep in mind that Video Edit Magic Express has not received updates for a pretty long time.

Media files can be imported into the workspace using only the file browser, as "drag and drop" is unsupported. It is possible to open multiple items at once.

You can preview media in a built-in payer, view file properties, as well as add media to the timeline using "drag and drop" and selecting the starting position, after which you can apply affects (e.g. image transform, brightness and contrast, posterize, color channel) and insert transitions (e.g. picture-in-picture, wipe, hue, luminance, picture arrange).

These effects and transitions can be modified at any time. Plus, you can add captions (title of the video, opening title, closing credit), crop images, split tracks or the timeline, take snapshots and attach a narration sequence.

The project can be saved to file for further modifications, or exported to AVI, MPEG (VCD, SVCD, DVD), Windows Media (WMV, WMA), AVI (DV Type I and Type II), Quick Time (MOV) or to a Wave file. A few settings are available for the export. For instance, you can select the audio bit rate, frequency and quality for WMA files.

Video Edit Magic Express uses a moderate amount of CPU and system memory. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. It is stable and has a good response time. Too bad that Video Edit Magic Express has not been updated for a while.
