Snow Player

Snow Player is a small, portable media player that supports a variety of formats like MP3, OGG, WAV, AVI, MPG, 3GP, MOV, and MP4. This player, however, is not a new product. It has quite the years behind. Can that lead to incompatible with newer files or formats? It might, but if you are dealing with common file types, you should experience issues.

Snow Player does not come with a winter theme — the name seems to be totally random. The interface is very minimalistic, however. Even to the point where it is kind of hard to read the buttons and labels, resizing it is not an option.

The control is basic and comprehensible, though. Play, pause, next, and stop are the veterans when it comes to multimedia players. Shuffle and repeat are also available if you are working with playlists or file bulks. Regarding the playlist, there is a small button near the equalizer which opens up the playlist menu. On top of that, the program has a Record function built in. If you are running video content and want to capture a segment, the Rec button will help.

The settings area has a different UI than the dashboard, and that is a normal panel, properly enlarged and easier to navigate. Besides the general options that let you stick the UI on top of any program or associate all formats with the app, there are some other things to play around with. For example, you can hide the taskbar icon, enable playlist animations, or change the skins for the UI and playlist. Another handy feature is radio support. You can use a radio station URL to make the player broadcast any station you wish.

In summary, Snow Player is a vintage multimedia player that is still alive and kicking. If you are on the lookout for such classic apps, you can add this one to your collection, however, if you are looking for a feature-rich everyday program, Snow Player might not be for you.
