Subs Player

With all the online resources and streaming services, the number of users who use media players to watch videos and movies has decreased. Still, if you are amongst those who prefer a standard desktop media player instead of opening the browser to watch a video, then Subs Player is for you.

First, let us mention that the tool comes in two flavors: a regular, installer-based one and a portable one. The latter does not require installation and, furthermore, it does not leave traces in the registry of the host computer.

The interface of Subs Player brings nothing new. You get the traditional media playback controls that allow you to start, stop the player and navigate through the video, volume control tools, along with options to open the playlist window, the equalizer, and more. Common multimedia files are supported.

To customize the video and get more control over the playback, just navigate through the “Video” menu, which allows you to change the aspect ratio, crop the video, apply deinterlacing, change the language and adjust the playback speed. You can also take a snapshot of the player screen.

A few audio settings are available as well, allowing you to change the output module, the channels and the codecs to use. Moreover, the 12-band equalizer makes it possible to experiment with the video sound.

Aside from playing videos, Subs Player can also encode and decode subtitles. It features subtitle synchronization tools and support for multiple languages. It allows you to control the subtitle position, font and style so that the subtitle becomes easier to read.

Subs Player is a two in one application, providing both a media player with support for common file types and a subtitle management and synchronization tool. While it cannot be compared to professional subtitle editors, it does allow quick subtitle encoding and synchronizing, which should be more than enough for regular users.
