Traxex Player

Playback of multimedia files requires an application which is capable of properly reading the target format. This can mean video and audio files, and there are tons of choices available over the web. In case you’re looking to try out something new, Traxex Player comes with a cool design and decent file support for multimedia files.

The setup process doesn’t take much of your time, and no system restart is required to make it work. Running it brings up the main window, which can be divided into two sections, one of which representing the video preview area, fitted with several visual options, while the other holds the general items playlist and corresponding playback controls.

Adding files is either done through a drag and drop operation, or the browse dialog which supports a selection of multiple items at a time. File support isn’t really abundant, but you are able to open those under formats like 3GP, AVI, OGG, WMV, RMVB, RM, MPEG, MP4, MP3, OGA, WMA, and RA.

Playback controls only count as basics, such as play, stop, and corresponding navigation controls. A volume slider lets you set the level of decibels, while the one for progress makes it easy to jump through content, with the total playtime of the file displayed in a box.

Unfortunately, the application doesn’t allow you to save the created playlist, nor to load existing ones. Playback controls can only be used through the interface buttons, because there’s no hotkey support, and using a multimedia keyboard here has no effect. Favorite items can be tagged accordingly, while visual mode provides simple control over color calibration.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Traxex Player comes with good intentions, but the features it comes with make it feel a little rough around the edges overall. File support is decent, but you can’t save your playlists to create a diversified classification of multimedia items.
