simpl® AVI Player

simpl® AVI Player is a tiny and portable app whose purpose is to play audio and video files, providing users with a simple environment. It supports AVI, MID, MPG, MP3, WAV, and WMV.

Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can simply drop the program files anywhere on the hard disk and run the executable.

Otherwise, you may save simpl® AVI Player to a USB flash drive or another removable device, in order to run it on any workstation with minimum effort.

What's important to mention is that no new entries are added to the Windows Registry, and leftover files are not kept on the hard drive after removing the tool.

The interface of the application is made from a regular window with a plain layout that doesn't excel in the visual department of the interface. We must also take into account that simpl® AVI Player has not been updated for a very long time.

Thanks to an Explorer-based folder structure, you can easily navigate directories and open files of the preferred format. The audio and video stream is loaded into a small frame that cannot be switched to full-screen mode. Standard media player functions that may be used here include play, stop, as well as go to the start or end of the clip. It is also not possible to seek a position in the stream. There are no other notable options available in this tool.

The media player uses a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory and has a good response time. However, we have experienced some stability issues when testing it on Windows 7, as videos run in full-screen mode, and you can view only a cropped area in the small player. Other than that, simpl® AVI Player can be handled by first-time users seamlessly, thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity.
