MPEG Player is a simple-to-use software application that enables you to load and play video files with the .mpg and .mpeg extension. It comes packed with a few basic media control options that can be handled with ease by anyone.

The installation procedure is speedy and the only notable aspect about it is that you need .NET Framework installed. As far as the interface goes, the app is wrapped in a classical window with a plain-looking structure, where you can get started by opening an .mpg or .mpeg movie to play.

Looping mode is enabled by default. You can pause and resume playback, seek a particular position in the stream by moving a slider, adjust the volume level, change the aspect ratio, or enter full screen mode.

You can put together a playlist with multiple MPEG videos, save it as a plain text document to open it later, use a search function, remove an item from the playlist or clear it entirely, as well as ask the tool to remember the current list for the next startup. Keyboard shortcuts are supported for each media control.

Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, the software utility worked smoothly in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages.
