Recording screen activity to create a tutorial or for other similar purposes requires an application capable of capturing the screen area you need and there are a lot out there that you can choose from. With a suggestive name, Screenbits is a screen recorder fit for such tasks, providing the basic set of tools you need to create video tutorials.

Screenbits is easily deployed via the Windows 10 Store App, welcoming you with its straightforward and intuitive interface. All the controls are comprised in a single window, with few menus and options to deal with. Thus, using the application shouldn't pose any problem, regardless of your experience.

The application displays control buttons for the recording process, enabling you to start, pause, stop or cancel it with a single click. Delayed capturing is also possible. The main window includes options that enable you to choose the screen area to record, be it the entire desktop, a specific window or a fixed-size region. Moreover, you can configure it to capture the area around your mouse cursor.

Screenbits grants full control over the recording process, as you can you can define custom hotkeys to help you start, pause, stop or cancel the recording even if the application is not in focus. Additional settings enable you to change the saving directory and create a naming template for the output, which is saved in MP4 format only (no alternatives are provided).

As for the recording, you can change its resolution, modify the output frame rate and thus, alter the quality of the video. Audio recording is also possible if your computer is equipped with a microphone but you can also mute the sound, if needed.

To protect your work, you can overlay a custom text watermark, which will be displayed throughout the recording.

Screenbits does its job well while maintaining a difficulty level that makes it fit for any type of user, regardless of their experience. The control buttons and the settings are intuitive and, overall, it is a good option for those who are on the lookout for a fast and simplistic desktop recorder. As a suggestion, it would be nice to also include screenshot capturing in future releases.
