Windows Media 9 Capture is a video recording tool that is able to capture audio and video content from the devices connected to your computer.

It packs a clean and simple layout that allows users to perform most of the operations with just a few clicks. You can configure the devices where you want to capture the digital media content from, and preview the content of the recorded file.

This cross-platform utility gives users the possibility of specifying the target file. You should pay attention to the fact that the application is not able to automatically add a file name extension to the grabbed items, so you have to manually enter their .AVI extension.

You are allowed to set the video device properties, by specifying the video source (PAL, NTSC, and others), picking the pixel format (I420, YUY2) and frame size, as well as applying cropping options to remove the black bars, and adjusting the levels of brightness, contrast, hue and saturation. Of course, the settings may alter the output quality of the videos you want to capture.

The audio content can also be captured, and you can select between two audio formats ("Waveformatex" and "Waveformatextensible"). Setting the time limit is particularly simple, as you only need to enter the time value in the dedicated dialog.
