IP-Proxy

Implementing a framework that enables establishing communication between different protocols and applications can be quite challenging, especially since the inherent characteristics of the communication ends – the sender and receiver can have a varied and fluctuating nature. This is even more demanding when put against the requirements of modern networking, and this is why dedicated applications, such as IP-Proxy have been developed.

This application was created specifically in order to provide users with the means to establish communication between different network protocols, as well as different software packages, through a command-line-based approach that accepts a multitude of inputs.

Several protocols are supported, some of which include: client/server for TCP and UDP unicast/multicast for UDP and simplex/duplex operation for RS232 and RS485 serials. In terms of actual usage, one will be able to interact with the application through the command-line interface and corresponding configurations, which are stored locally in a configuration file.

However, if no configuration file is provided, the application will automatically assign default hosts and ports for both the client and server sides. The configuration file and its inherent contents will require special formatting, which is well-presented in the application’s main documentation and help file.
