WakeOnLan

Network administrators use wake-on-LAN commands to send power commands to remote computers. That is exactly what WakeOnLan is designed to do: it allows users to check the status of several machines on the same network and execute power commands remotely.

Designed with scalability in mind, WakeOnLan allows users to organize their list of hosts in different tabs. In other words, it can handle groups of machines in a large network, making it easier for administrators to do their job.

Adding new hosts to the list is done in two different ways: either manually, one-by-one, or by importing data from an outer source, namely a text file or the IPScan32 app.

To add a new IP address manually, one has to specify the name of the PC, as well as the IP and the MAC addresses. There are a series of optional parameters (mask, port, and login data) that are needed only if the default configuration is different for the computer in question. The data for the computers in the list can be modified at any time, and hosts can be deleted with the click of a button.

WakeOnLan can ping all or some of the IP addresses in the list at once to check their status. This way, network administrators can verify if any of the hosts are online or offline.

Moving on, the application can also send wake up signals to every offline computer to turn them on. But that is not all. WakeOnLan can perform remote power actions on any of the hosts, provided it has administrative privileges. To be more specific, it enables users to restart, shutdown, power off, or hibernate the target system, as well as close or lock the session of the current user.

WakeOnLan does not only send wake up signals to remote computers in batch, but it can also check the status of a host and remotely power off any machine in the network. Although many of these actions can also be done via the command console by an experienced administrator, it might be more comfortable to have an organized interface with simple predefined commands.
